Technically, Alexa can’t play music from YouTube since Alexa doesn’t support the service app. Just keep in mind that YouTube Music’s casting isn’t the best, Google still needs to work on it before YouTube Music replaces Google Play Music as their primary music service. Sadly, YouTube Music only works with Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri. You’ll either need to use Bluetooth with your Echo speakers or replace them with speakers that support Google Cast if you really want the functionality you have now (with Spotify) in YouTube Music. Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Tidal do not even though both Apple Music and Tidal are Alexa-compatible. Next, tap on Bluetooth Devices so that we can scan for Bluetooth-capable devices. Tap on Echo & Alexa, then tap on your Echo device. Spotify and Amazon Music are two examples, I think Pandora might as well. From the Alexa App on your phone, tap Devices at the bottom. The only thing you’ll be able to do is directly connect your phone to your Echo speakers via Bluetooth and play music that way.Ī few music services let you play on Echo speakers, they support Amazon’s network speaker protocol (I forget what it’s called). Pair your preferred device to your Echo speaker through your Bluetooth settings, open the YouTube app or website, and begin streaming. You won’t be able to Cast or anything like that to your Echo speakers either. To connect YouTube to Alexa, you need to use a separate device that has Bluetooth capabilities such as a phone, tablet, or laptop. You won’t be able to use Alexa, at all, with YouTube Music. Google unlocked that feature a month or two ago. You can upload your own music to YouTube Music.
